offend anyone when sending your messages. Turn off a
consumer with your email and you can be sure they`ll
tune out your message. Don`t let this happen to you!
A message that earns respect makes sales. That`s why our
first topic for discussion is email etiquette. (Later in the
course, we`ll talk more about how to write an email sales
letter.)
Train yourself to always -- and I mean ALWAYS -- stick to
the rules below when crafting your email message.
=> RULE #1 - ALWAYS WRAP YOUR LINES AT 65
CHARACTERS OR LESS
Whenever you write an email, always format the lines so that
they`re 65 characters, or less, across. To do this, you may
need to do a "hard return" by hitting "Enter" at the end of
the line.
Wondering why to limit your lines to just 65 characters?
(Good question! It shows you`re thinking.) There are two
reasons that "less is more":
-- The first thing to remember is that looking at a computer
screen for a long time causes EYE FATIGUE for many readers.
The shorter span of characters across the screen makes
reading easier and more appealing to the recipient of your
email message.
-- The other reason to go short instead of long is this:
some email clients AUTOMATICALLY ENFORCE LINE-WRAPPING
at 60-65 characters on received messages. If your email
is wrapped at 70, the content will arrive all "chopped up."
This makes it unattractive...and worse -- unappealing.
-- Tip within a Rule #1: Email clients such as Outlook
Express allow you to SET THE LINE-WRAP to any
character-width you choose. That means you won`t have to
hit Enter each time after typing 65 characters. Makes life
easier!
-- Tip within a Rule #2 - You can type 65 asterisks or
dashes in a Notepad file to create a template. Then paste
your email below it to see if any lines extend too far to
the right.
=> RULE # 2 - BE CAREFUL USING ALL CAPS
How many times have you changed the TV channel to avoid
listening to a screaming car salesperson? No one likes a
screaming salesperson...and no one likes a "screaming" email
message, either. Odds are, when someone has over-amped the
volume of their message by using too many capital letters
(not to mention too many exclamation points and other
punctuation) - you`re going to be turned off.
On the Internet, email messages written in all caps are
considered yelling. It`s okay to write some sentences and
some words in all caps, but don`t go overboard. (As you can
see in this message, I`ve tried to use capital letters to
help break up sections of the content from time to time)
-- Tip within a Rule: Consumers buy from a source they
trust. Emails in all caps are perceived as "shady" or
uneducated, and have an appearance that damages the
credibility of an offer.
=> RULE #3 - WATCH YOUR Ps & Qs (Spelling and Grammar)
Would you be influenced by an email selling you something
that had noticeable spelling and grammar mistakes? Sure you
would...and the influence would be negative, not positive!
When a consumer reads a sales message that`s filled with
errors, they think to themselves, "Good grief, this person
doesn`t even take the time to get his emails right. His
product is probably the same quality as his emails."
When you`re in business, YOUR IMAGE IS YOUR REPUTATION
and your reputation is the reason people buy from you or the
guy down the block. It`s essential that you create an image
of INTEGRITY, CREDIBILITY, and HONESTY in the mind
of your prospects. Sending emails filled with errors doesn`t
hurt your professional image...it destroys it. (Ouch!)
Since e-commerce is now a common method of doing business, the initial job in building a successful e-commerce store is finding, categorizing, and uploading a fair amount of useful products onto a well designed online store. 1.) Use keywords as anchor text (the visible clickable words) in your links throughout your page’s content. This is huge! Allow me to demonstrate how powerful this one element can be.
Go to Google and run a search for “Click Here” (no quotes.) Now try to pay special attention to two things… First, there are more than 1.6 billion other (competing) pages. Second, the number 1 match is a link to an Adobe Acrobat Reader download page.
Ready for a surprise? The term Click Here is not anywhere on the page text or META tags. The page is number one, out of 1.6 Billion pages, because thousands of Web pages supplying a link to Acrobat “Click Here” as their anchor text of choice. Amazing, isn’t it? This is the best news every for your site! This is like a magic bullet that works every single time. And it’s so easy. This leads us to our next tip
2.) If SEO becomes a priority for your site, as most will, build a separate page for each of your main keywords. And don’t forget to link the keyword rich anchor text, from each individual page, to the topic page that has that specific keyword as its main focus.

Warning: Avoid reciprocal link farms like the plague! They are so easy for Google to spot it’s a joke.
If you need to build links quickly or don’t have the time to dedicate to requesting links yourself, you can use a service that does “3 way linking.? It’s the ideal ?set it and forget it? option without worrying about reciprocal links being tracked. In all my testing, and from my research, it is obvious that less is
more when it comes to better producing AdSense pages. Why is this?
First of all, the most important determining factor for people
clicking your ads is how long they are spending on your site in the
first place. When someone comes to a site which looks to be boring
or simply full of ads, their response will be to click the back
button and NOT one of your AdSense ads.
If your content is compelling and keeps a visitor on the site
longer, they will be more likely to click an AdSense ad. The space
you use showing all those many ad groups could better be spent
featuring valuable content which the visitor will find interesting.
Secondly, Google is all about making money for Google. If you only
select to have one ad group on your page, Google is more likely to
populate that group with higher paying ads. If you have multiple ad
groups on one page, Google will be forced to fill the many groups
with some very low paying ads. Therefore, the average value of
clicks on that page will be diluted by those lower quality ads.
Don't blindly trust this advice though. Testing is vital! Carefully
record your clicks and earnings for a page over time. Then modify
it (move or delete some ad groups) and let it run until you have a
few hundred or so clicks again; record these and compare with the
previous format. Then modify it and test again! Continued testing
is KEY!

Is there a logical flow through your website? Are visitors able to view all pages quickly (within 6 seconds) over their connection?
Are there no banner ads or distracting images that may interrupt the flow of information to the visitor?
Can they view the site without having to scroll left or right? Ie is the site optimized for at least 800 x 600 resolution?
You could also write up an electronic survey or Php Poll to ask your customers what they need and offer them an incentive to fill it in.

Make it easy and for your customers to contact you. Offer Email, Phone, Mail (and office details). Some may prefer to use Skype or Instant Messenger as well. You could also offer toll free numbers for phone and fax contact. I recommend the use of a contact us script rather than a hyperlinked email address to avoid being spammed.
4. Practice Outstanding Customer Service
Make sure employees know of and use your customer service policy. Be flexible in your customer relations and above all be fair and respectful to their concerns, needs and wants. Give your employees bonuses or incentives to practice excellent customer service.
5. Impress Your Customer With The “Cherry On Top” Approach
Always give your customers more than they expect. This will reduce the likelihood of returns from “impulse buys”. A thank you gift or voucher can go a long way to ensure that your customer buys from you again. An email within 48 hours of the purchase to confirm that they love the purchase and seek any assistance will also improve customer satisfaction.
6. Be Respectful

Inbound link - Theses are one way links coming into your website
Outbound link - There's are one way links that are leaving your website
Cross Links - These are link exchanges, eg you link to site A and site A links back to you
Page Rank/PR - This is on a scale of 1-10 and is how Google measures how important your website is
SEO or Search engine optimization is key to driving traffic to your website from search engines. People often wonder how to get those coveted 1-10 ranks for your keywords, but struggle in doing so. The first and most important step in obtaining those rankings is to target specific key phrases. Its better to target a specific phrase than an individual word, as competition for the individual words is very high and usually dominated by massive businesses.
1) Check out your competitors
For example, lets assume your business sells computers. It would be an impossible task to optimize your site for the keyword 'computer' or 'computers'. If you do a Google search for 'computer' you will see there are 1,330,000,000 results and the top ranking sites include apple and dell to name a few. You will never get into that top 10 list, there is simply to much competition.
2) So, what do I do?
Have a look at your website and ask yourself what do you sell? Is it computers specifically built to play games? If so you should try 'custom gaming pcs. This search term returns 413,000 results much easier to beat than the previous 1,330,000,000 results and the #1 spot only has 53 inbound links. This should be fairly easy to beat and take their precious #1 spot.
Before we start looking at how to build links, you need to make sure that your website has being optimized for your chosen keywords. I recommend a piece of software called http://www.seoelitedirect.com
3) Checking out competitors inbound links
If you haven't purchased SEO Elite (http://www.seoelitedirect.com) which has this superb feature built in. I will show you how to check out your competitors links, the long way...
Access toolbar.google.com and install the toolbar on your browser. Type your keyword into the search (in this example 'custom gaming pcs') and then click on options > more tab and tick the page info box. Simply click on the blue circle icon with an I in it and then choose 'Backwards links'. This will show you a sample of the incoming links a page has, as you can see the #1 spot has 53 inbound links.
4) Make friends with other websites
Look at each inbound link the #1 spot has, see if each page is relevant to your website, it probably is! Browse around the site and find a way to contact the webmaster, there is usually an email address somewhere. Simply contact the webmaster and ask if they would like to trade links with you. Take not of the green bar on Google tool bar, this tells you the Page rank of the page. Links from sites with higher PR are better than links from sites with low PR.
Do this for every site that is linking to the #1 site for your keyword. Then do it for spot #2, #3, #4 and so on. Some webmasters will just ignore your email, don't get disheartened, there are plenty more links out there waiting for you! If a webmaster refuses to trade links, thank him gracefully.
5) Results
After doing the above for a couple of weeks, Google will re-index their rankings and you will jump up the search rankings. It can take a few months for your page rank to be updated though so don't worry about that. The more links you build, the higher you will rank. The more you put in the more you get out of it.

As for Situation B, a visitor stumbles into the website, and would also like to find out more information about the product. Unfortunately, due to bad placement and fanciful font-types, the visitor takes forever, or even fails to find the navigation bar. Even when he/she does so, links to the product information are nowhere to be found, (example : home > about > products > product image > etc…[a few more clicks] > product information ).
Analysis : In both situations, wouldn’t a website with characteristics similar to the Situation A be more rewarding ergo better?
